Webmentions
This page explains what webmentions are and how they work on my blog.
What is a webmention?
A Webmention is a W3C-recommended open standard that allows websites to automatically notify each other when they link, reply, or mention content, facilitating a decentralized social web (basically, IndieWeb).
How this works
I use a service called webmention.io that collects webmentions on my behalf. I, then, show these webmentions on my blog via their API. You can read more about how I implemented this, to better understand it.
These webmentions can come from platforms like Mastodon, Bluesky (via Bridgy), others' personal blogs, etc. And for your information, most social platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook, and LinkedIn don’t send webmentions.
If you have questions, please feel free to email me.
